Project Scope

Project Purpose and Needs: BAX is seeking help refreshing our brand identity. We are actively working to update our website (we are doing this in-house and hoping to launch the first rendition of a new site by the end of Feb) and would like professional help with our overarching brand identity. We need help creating an updated logo, style guide, templates for letterheads, posters, memos, headers etc. We are working to actively forefront accessibility into all of our communication efforts and want to make sure that is kept in mind as we move forward - along with honoring the past brand identify and the multiple communities we serve. We anticipate this project being complete by June 30th at the latest. We are also celebrating our 30th Anniversary on March 30th. We are gearing up for a dynamic digital event featuring musicians and dancers from around the world, as well as some video presentations. While we want to be thoughtful and take some time with the new logo, in the immediate future we would love some help creating an over arching aesthetic for the anniversary event itself, and surrounding outreach and communication efforts.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange

Brooklyn Arts Exchange is a multigenerational arts organization placing education, performance, and artistic process at the intersection of arts and social justice. BAX was founded in 1991 on an industrial block in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn. In 1998, BAX moved to lower 5th Avenue in Park Slope to accommodate a growing demand for services and received a New York Performance “Bessie” Award for “its innovative work creating a house and a true home for the arts in Brooklyn.” We now operate four rehearsal studios/classrooms, one of which doubles as a 70-seat theater. BAX supports the voices of underrepresented individuals and groups of all origins, ages, races, sexual orientations, immigration and disability status. All our constituents join our ongoing antiracist efforts and anti-oppression, pro-inclusion work. BAX serves over 9,500 artists, students, families, and audience members each year, with the majority of activity in Brooklyn. Through our thriving Education program, we annually partner with about eight Brooklyn public, charter and independent schools. We typically provide on-site classes for 3,000 students focusing on dance, theater, and tumbling. We also offer residencies, space, and support for up to 30 artists each year as well as subsidized rental space to hundreds of independent artists and small companies.
